When I started working with my life coach, I was confronted with a hard reality: if I wanted my life to change, I would have to do all the work myself! I remember in our very first session she said: “YOU have to do the hard work…..and only YOU have the answers”! What? She wasn’t going to tell me how to make my life exactly like I wanted? Wow – what a wake up call that was! It was very powerful to realize that I was the only one capable of changing my life; no one could do it for me. As hard as that was, I quickly came to terms with it because I wanted my life to change really, really badly!
And that is exactly what I did – through coaching I made changes in my life: I stood in new perspectives, became aware of my choices, and took new actions. This ultimately resulted in me leaving my corporate job, and starting a new career as a Life Coach. Now, one and a half years later, you would think that creating change would get easier, but nope!! I still have to make a conscious effort to choose the things I want in my life, and change is not always easy.
I recently decided that I need more fun and new adventures in my life. Therefore, I am holding myself accountable to do one thing each month that is new and fun (check out last week’s blog to see my monthly commitments). Well, I did it! I went Go-Kart racing with my husband on January 27th. Even though I was excited, I was also very nervous. Check out my pre and post race videos!!
It felt great to do something I have never done before. I gained confidence out on the race track, as well as in my life. If I can do this, then I know I can do anything else I’ve always wanted to do! Woo-hoo…. Can’t wait for the next “fun and new”!
